Carey was 5'10 inches tall when she became a high-end model. She was a popular model with American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. In 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists named her dad Scientist of the Year. In the course of his professional career Carey grew up all around the world. Following her graduation from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to model on the side. It caught the attention of an agent from Ford Model Agency New York. In the year 1980, she emigrated to France and briefly lived in Paris as well as Bordeaux, before returning in New York in order to explore an acting career. She appeared on Vogue and Glamour covers. As she modeled and continued to pursue her studies at a full-time level for a literary major within New York University. After graduation, in New York she began to pursue acting. In 1986 she had her first role in acting which was a part of Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys in wind surfing, skiing, rock climbing and white water rafting.
